Yin Yoga – Tuesdays at 8:00 PM – 5 Class Series

In the more active yoga classes “yang” you do many postures working on your strength, flexibility, and balance. Yin Yoga on the other hand is a stillness practice targeting the connective tissues which include our fascia, tendons, ligaments and bones so this makes it a great complement to the more muscular and dynamic forms of yoga. If you are looking to increase your flexibility, you need to work on not just your muscles in an active Yoga class which is one half of the equation, but also on your connective tissues which is the other half of the equation. Yin yoga poses are normally held from one to ten minutes and most yoga poses are done on the floor. Don’t be fooled though by what yin yoga looks like, it is not a restorative or gentle practice, it can be quite challenging due to the long duration of the poses. Yin yoga is the other half of our yoga practice and Yin yoga in particular provides physical, mental, emotional and energetic benefits.
